My grandfather gave this vintage English hip flask to my father in the 80s, and my father never used it. It is still in the original box and has the City of Sheffield proof of purchase signed by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, George Roy Munn. He was Lord Mayor of Sheffield from 1984 to 1985 according to the City's website: https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/your-city-council/mayor-history
The flask is made of English lead-free Rose Pewter and stamped with two hunting scenes. On the front is a Labrador carrying a duck in his mouth while standing in marshlands. On the back of the flask are two ducks just beginning flight, rising up from the marsh. This design is no longer available, though the Sheffield Pewter Craft Company, Sheffield England, will hand stamp a flask in any design you choose - for a price.
This flask is one of the first models produced by the Sheffield Pewter Craft Company. They hand produce the flasks from lead-free pewter in a small shop foundry, which you can see on their website. You can also view their current flask models here: https://sheffieldpewtercraftcompany.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=9&chapter=0
As you can see from the website, similar flasks made today cost 39 pounds or about $50.00.
It is difficult to take good pictures of the flask. If you enlarge the pictures, the design should be clearly visible. The pictures of stamped flasks on the Sheffield website are better, and the customer feedback indicates how intricate and handsome the stamped scenes appear.
It is 6" tall from the top of the cap to the bottom of the flask and 1" thick with a curved shape. The curved shape makes it 1.5" high when it is laid flat on a surface.
