This is a Cyrus Noble Whiskey decanter from 1976, made by the Haas brothers, and this decanter was the first in a series. It is called "Felis Sylvestis", and is a mountain lion with two cubs. The lion family as depicted in the rocks is 8" wide, 5" deep, and 6" tall including the solid oak base. I don't see a single flaw in a visual inspection. The decanter has been stored in its original styro halves, within the original paper box. The decanter originally held a "fifth" of straight 80 proof bourbon whiskey, a fifth being 4/5ths of a quart. There is the sound of a small amount of "something" in the decanter; I'm not sure if I would drink it or NOT! This is a serialized piece, #920 out of 1800 pieces made. Includes the COA and original foil sticker on the reverse. The original base is varnished oak, about 9" wide, and recessed where the decanter sits. These decanters are 50 years old and the corks are all stuck in the base and will require "picking" out with a suitable tool like a dental pick, provided the decanter is to be reused. As a display piece only, this won't be a problem. The original alcohol tax sticker is still applied. These are neat detailed pieces; photos don't do the justice. I have several other decanters available. All are in Bonny Doon. Email me with questions or for an appointment to view.
