It’s a great boat, I just don’t have time for it anymore. Some rough spots for sure, but a great value for the price. Could do a restoration or just keep on fishing. Comes with trailer and gear.
This boat is as classic as it gets. Never been bottom painted, original wood, cool fixtures and trim. It’s got the look. Spent most of its days trailered to freshwater lakes. Medium V, sits high and gets on plane quickly. Super fast when the swell is down, handles 4-5 foot seas like a champ. I take it from the Santa Cruz Harbor to Davenport, the Soquel Hole, and Moss Land with no problems.
Comes with:
-Two anchors and anchor ropes/chain
-Required safety gear (flare gun, air horn, signal flag, throwable PFD, bow and aft running lights, fire extinguisher)
-Rod holders (4)
-Lowrance Elite-7 Combo 7” fish finder/navigation unit
-Landing ropes and fenders
-Trolling plate
-Hydrofoil plate
-Spare gas tank with hose and primer bulb
-Odds and ends
-Trailer and cover (cover tore last winter and now has a hole)
The Good:
-Full fiberglass hull and stringers
-9 feet of cabin space, which is rare for a 17 foot boat
-New fuel sensor reed and gauge
-All wiring, bus box, and fuses replaced 2 years ago
-20+ gallon aluminum fuel tank mounted under splash well
-Bilge pump works great (auto/manual/off)
-2.5 year old battery, cranks strong, in battery box, with inline terminal fuse and large gauge wiring
-Bimini top, could use new canvas at some point, but awesome for shade while fishing
The Bad:
-2 small patches of epoxy on the bottom where previous owner reinforced light damage from lake shore landings. Not a structural concern, but does not hold paint as well as other resins. Easy fix to grind out and re-patch with vinylester resin.
-Some of the wood needs to be repaired or replaced (epoxy impregnated, cut out and replaced, however you care to address it)
-No seats
-Previous owner did a plywood and fiberglass floor patch that did not seal. Fine for more years to come, but should be replaced at some point
-Cover ripped last winter and leaks rainwater onto deck
The Outboard:
1992 88 SPL Evinrude 2 cycle outboard runs strong and had more than enough power for the hull. Aftermarket 20+ gallon aluminum fuel tank under splash well. All new wiring, fuses, and bus box 2.5 years ago. New throttle control cables, lower unit oil changed, and impeller installed in June 2025. Battery is about 2.5 years old, but still cranks great.
