Very rare stoneware ceramic pre-prohibition liquor bottle of jug with skull stopper. These rare bottles were made for the pre-prohibition San Francisco Yellowstone Saloon by the men who saved the old saloon from being shut down. They had them especially made a high expense in the Midwest and they are difficult to find now.
The bottle with stopper is 9 1/2" tall, in great condition with no chips or cracks and just minor putting to the glaze original to firing that just shows the bottle 's age. The stopper is also stoneware and good condition with just a little wear to the black glaze in the eye sockets. It fits the bottle perfectly and looks cool, but it's uncertain whether it is original to this bottle, but nonetheless comes with it.
The front of the bottle reads in embossed lettering "Twomey & Miholovich, The Yellowstone, O.P.S. Bourbon, 22 Montgomery St, SF". The back has an embossed floral motif, printed in blue. Other nice embossing.
