The Lifelite 8040 is a 4-foot fluorescent shop light fixture designed to use two F40T12 fluorescent tubes. It was manufactured in the late 1980s and features a relatively basic, two-ballast box design for its lighting. NOTE: It does not have a pull chain, it must be plugged into an outlet controlled by a light switch. I'll give to anyone willing to come pick it up for free.
Lamp type: Uses two 4-foot, 40-watt T12 fluorescent tubes (F40T12).
Design: A 4-foot shop light, often suitable for garage or workshop lighting.
Ballast: Contains two small, separate ballast boxes instead of a single magnetic ballast. These ballasts may be less reliable due to age and can be prone to failure.
Age: A vintage fixture, likely from the late 1980s
Upgrading to LED: It is possible to convert the fixture to use LED tubes.
Type A (Ballast-compatible): You can use a Type A LED tube that works with the existing ballast.
Type B (Ballast-bypass): You can rewire the fixture to bypass the ballast and connect the LED tubes directly to the power source, which is often more reliable in the long run
