ABOUT ME:
* MFA in Writing ; BA in Pre-Law
* Taught English at Ivy League and state universities
* Served as a Writing Advisor for Graduate Applications at Columbia University
* Experience advising students applying to JD, MBA, MFA, MA, MPH, and PhD programs, as well as joint degrees
* Editor and Writing Consultant for 12 years for college, Masters, and PhD students
* LOVE working with applicants and relieving some of your stress and anxiety from the application process!
ABOUT MY APPROACH:
* I do not try to "game" the system or follow trends - I do not try to sell you on magical secrets that guarantee admission (they don't!)
* Instead, I do my best to get you to do your best, which produces more interesting work for an admissions committee to read, and also helps you to prepare for interviews and identify strengths and uncertainties in your larger application
* I let you choose how to receive guidance - we can read the essay together while I provide direct feedback through an online conference or phone call, or I can read the essay on my own and provide typed comments on Microsoft Word or Google Docs, or we can do a mix of both
* Ethics: I do not use any AI in any part of my process, and I do not write any of your essays for you. When you work with me, you create your own essay with integrity and pride.
ABOUT MY RATES:
*$90-$115 per round for multi-session packages for comprehensive application support (minimum 3 sessions of ~1 hour each, including feedback and follow-up)
*$125 for 1 round of feedback on one essay, or up to 3 double-spaced pages of other writing (activity sections or short responses). Includes full editing – content, grammar, structure, etc. – and conferencing to discuss ideas and tips for expanding, cutting, organizing, and pizzazz-ing.
*$75 for 1 round/60 minutes of brainstorming only – if you don’t have anything written yet or have a brief outline and need help starting, I will interview you to generate some ideas and offer you some interactive writing exercises to try so that you can produce the first draft.
*$50 for 1 round of proofreading/polishing only of one essay, or up to 3 double-spaced pages – grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, word choice, sentence structure revisions for flow, and cutting for clarity or to meet word count limits. No content feedback or conferencing.
