Selling a vintage Power Macintosh G3 All-in-One desktop, also known as the Molar Mac since the shape looks like a tooth. This was produced exclusively for the education market in 1998, and was only in production for 5 months before being replaced by the original iMac. It has been upgraded significantly and I am calling it the "Yikes! G4 Molar" (explained below). Great machine but my situation changed so it is time to sell it.
This computer has a 466 MHz PowerPC G4 CPU which was a 400 MHz pulled from a Power Mac G4 "Yikes!" and modestly overclocked to 466 MHz (upgraded from a 233 MHz PPC G3). I also brought over the larger heatsink from the Yikes! for better cooling, and it may be able to OC'ed higher. It has also been upgraded to 256 MB of RAM (includes another two 256 MB modules separately to get to the 768 MB), and comes an upgraded 120 GB hard drive (maximum supported via IDE is 128 GB), DVD "SuperDrive" and 1.44MB floppy drive (all tested and working). The built-in 15" CRT is bright and crisp.
It is in excellent overall condition (no to minimal yellowing), no broken plastic despite being quite common due to the plastics being ~30 years old, brittle, and sun-damaged (not the case with this one), etc. Great "bridge" machine for older Macs, since it is capable of holding optical (CD/DVD), floppy, and ZIP drives, along with SCSI, IDE, USB*, Firewire*, and SATA* support all in one. The onboard video can also be upgraded via a PCI card and some soldering (if interested ask me about video cards). It has a fresh installation of Mac OS 9.2.2. Also has Microsoft Office 2001 and Toast Titanium. Great for making floppy disks or CDs for older vintage Macs, basic word processing, and reliving your childhood by playing some retro games! Also makes for a great conversation piece.
Complete with a clicky Apple Extended Keyboard II and mouse, which are also in excellent shape and also not discolored to match the chassis. All of the original hardware (CPU, hard drive, CD drive) is also included for completeness, but the hard drive and CD drive do not work.
*Can be added via PCI expansion card.
If you are interested or have any questions about the computer, please feel free to email, call, or text me. $1500 OBO. Thank you.
