The price for everything below is $1,000. I won't sell any of these items separately. This price is firm and non-negotiable. Please don't ask for a discount or make an offer.
I am selling a system that adds 48TB of RAID-capable storage space into your existing server or NAS. Specifically, I am selling a combination of:
1) One Adaptec brand internal RAID card
2) Two sets of Sans Digital brand direct attached storage (DAS) units
3) Sixteen Western Digital brand 3TB hard disk drives (HDDs)
Using this system, you can run a number of RAID arrays for storage protection, speed of access, or both. More complete technical details are listed below.
The first item in the system is a PCIE-type RAID / HBA expansion card. It's an Adaptec brand, model ASR 78165. You simply insert this expansion card into your existing motherboard's PCIE x8 slot. The card is capable of connecting up to 24 drives (16 external + 8 internal) in a variety of RAID arrays, including 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and JBOD. The HDDs can be SAS or SATA type drives. You can also use standard SAS or SATA type solid state drives (SSDs). The card is in excellent functional condition. There is nothing wrong with it. The card comes with both a low-profile bracket and a full-profile bracket. But no backup battery or internal SAS cables are included.
The second item in the system is a set of two (2) external storage towers that connect to the above RAID card, using standard SAS cables. These are often called direct attached storage (DAS) units. Specifically, I have two identical DAS units, which are Sans Digital brand, TowerRAID series, model TR8X12G. These are standard tower-style DAS units and can each accommodate up to eight 3.5" hard disk drives (HDD) or eight 2.5" solid state drives (SSD). Up to sixteen HDDs can be accessed when both DAS units are attached to the above RAID card. Each DAS connects to the RAID card using standard SAS cables, which are included in the sale. There is one SAS cable for each 4 drives. Altogether, you'll get 4 SAS cables. Each cable is 1 meter in length. The DAS units and cables are all in excellent functional condition. There is nothing wrong with any of it.
The third item in the system is a set of sixteen (16) HDDs that are 3TB in storage capacity each. All 16 HDDs are Western Digital Corporation (WDC) brand, from their 'RE Series' of enterprise datacenter drives and are similar to their 'Black Series'. These are all model number WD3000FYYZ/X. A few have HP or Dell brand labels, but they are still manufactured by Western Digital with the same model number. Eight HDDs can be inserted into each DAS unit for a total of 24TB of storage capacity (8x3TB). When you combine the two DAS units, the total storage capacity is 48TB (2x8x3TB).
All of these drives have almost no use. All have been powered on for no more than 8 hours for testing. Almost no data has been written to these and if data was written, it was for testing purposes. I tested all drives using CrystalDiskInfo and WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic software and these applications reported no concerns. The screen shots of the 16 test results for CrystalDiskInfo are attached in the pictures.
[Please note that the included RAID card allows for up to 24 storage drives to be accessed (16 external and 8 internal). Therefore, it's possible for you to add another 8 internal drives to this system beyond what I am providing.]
As a summary, I am selling a system that adds 48TB of storage space into your existing server or NAS. You can use this system on existing servers that use a variety of different operating systems, including Windows Server, Linux, Chia, FreeNAS, TrueNAS, and UnRAID.
You can pick up from my house near the San Jose Airport. Or I would be happy to deliver it to you, if I happen to travel out in your direction.
