Hello I really need help. Right now currently both my son (13) and I (41 single mother) are unhoused/homeless living out of our car. I'm currently unemployed. I've applied everywhere but still nothing. I'm going back to school in San Jose because I qualify for financial aid. This is also the first time ever that I had to apply for food stamps, medi-cal, and child support. It took over a year to get approved for these benefits for us. Now even with these benefits which aren't even enough I'm still struggling to find any permanent housing or work. I have a clean background (no criminal record) and good credit because I pay my bills on time but I don't have much rental history because we've been living in and out of our car/hotel. I don't do drugs, smoke or drink alcohol. We're on the long wait list for shelters in the area and even low income housing too. It's been really hard for both of us mentally and physically. My own blood family knows about our current situation but still refuses to offer any type of support or resources. The father still doesn't want to have anything to do with my son because of his new wife/family. I've honestly gotten to a point where I know I cannot continue to live like this anymore especially with a child. I don't know what to do anymore and I'm really scared of what's going to happen to us if I can't figure it out soon. Would anyone be willing to rent to us please? I can still pay you something each month ($1000 - $1100) til I'm able to get back on my feet and pay more. I know it's not much but honestly we just need a safe place to sleep, use the restroom, shower and park our car overnight. Thank you for reading my post. I appreciate it.
