As you walk through the beauty of the redwoods there are countless pads carved into the redwoods each with a unique purpose and ready to be used. There are also water spigots everywhere. At the end of the majestic forest was a woodworking area with a cobblestone retaining wall. A few steps further are the most beautiful palm trees. But the road continues...
I had no idea that when I left the forest the property opened up to a gigantic area with more dwellings and storage containers and gems! A garage/workshop is wired with electricity with lamps and so many propane tanks and gas cans. There is an additional one room metal framed house/garage fully insulated with a fold up door. There is an old 5th wheel with a working water spigot and septic. Then finally there is the main house metal framed with a wooden door on one side and a sliding glass door on the other. electric wooden stove, stained glass windows waiting to be installed, extra doors, gas/electric heater in one. The other items that I saw that seemed cool and worth notating were an old milling saw, old cast iron heavy duty tub and some rolls of plastic trash fencing. This may be some people's favorite part of the entire property and it could be a completely separate property! There is a cleared estimated FOUR ACRE COMPLETELY FLAT PAD surrounded by an orchard which I believe to be Buckeye. Before the previous owner died this must have been so beautiful and well maintained. Once you have driven through the entire redwood forest believe it or not there is yet another very large pad overlooking the beautiful mountain views. It is undeveloped and ready to be used for whatever you choose!
When I first visited the property I did notice water spigots everywhere and hoses and water tanks with piping. There is a seasonal creek. There are two 2,500 gallon tanks. The water system is so extensive it must have taken years to run all of the pipes underground. The entire system works perfectly. About half way down the gully I found a 500G tank with valves and piping that continued down in elevation so I followed them and finally found the big beautiful 2,500 G water tank completely full and functioning. Water gushed out of it when I opened the valve and it was being refilled by the spring! There were also generators and a pump and some sort of box. The spring itself was about a 10-15 minutes walk down a trail to the West from the main holding tank.
From the corner of Watsonville Road and Redwood Retreat Road it is 5.3 miles and took 13 minutes to arrive at the access driveway leading to this property. The first 4.5 miles is mostly paved and then for 0.8 miles it is mostly gravel. The access driveway is dirt and I recommend a truck, 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive.
