Join us for a backyard jazz jam in West San Jose. Horns, keys, strings, drums, and vocalists welcome — typically 20+ musicians attend.
This month's theme features tunes from the New Orleans second line like (Iko Iko, When the Saints) and classic boogie woogie like (Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On).
Jam Details:
- 3rd year running, usually held the last Saturday of the month
- Backyard deck under a huge oak tree in West San Jose
- 18–24 players, organized into 4 assigned combos (6–7 players each)
- The Jam start at 1:00 PM; jam ends around 5:00 PM
- Each combo plays 50 minutes with 10-minute changeovers
- Plenty of parking available
Skill Levels:
- Combo 1: players coming up the jazz curve (solid on instrument, building solo chops)
- Combos 2 & 3: intermediate players
- Combo 4: advanced players
