I bought this in 1975 at what I believe to be the first Guitar Center. I recorded, used it in a band, and mostly played with it. It decorated my music room and eventually got thrown in the garage. In the mid 2000s, I saw a couple on ebay for $10,000+ and I had it professional;y restored, Now I am old and it is time to move it on to a collector/musician. It can make Mini-moog type sounds and industrial/electronic sounds a mini can't do. There are many youtube videos and web sites about it.
The Steiner-Parker Synthacon features a 12dB/octave multimode resonant filter, designed by co-founder Nyle Steiner. This Sallen-Key filter is capable of functioning as a low-pass, high-pass, or band-pass filter, and is known for its self-oscillation and positive feedback—which allows the filter to maintain consistent output amplitude even at high resonance, unlike the Minimoog filter. You can process external sounds through this filter using the jacks on the back. It sounds "fat".
One of the oscillators wave switches does not work and I have not been able to get the envelope to control the VCA. As far as I know, everything else works. I expect fixing it would be simple but do not trust myself to fix it.There is also a missing foot. I have not attached the handle, I like it without, nut I have the original handle and a new replacement if you want to attach it. The keyboard is scaled and everything else I tried works.
Mt pics are minimal because anyone buying it will want to see it in person. It has a backwards panel layout (right to left), modulation routing, and unusual signal path. You get either VCA or filter for each oscillator, not both. I will show you how to work it if you want.
The lowest price I have seen for one is $6,500, and that from a guy who said he could not guarantee the functionality. Interested to see if multiple excited people want it in the bay area, or do I need to go with reverb/ebay. Hope to move it on to someone who will love it and make music with it.
