This Guild Mark II has been a joy to own and play over the last 10 years. I’m only selling it because I have a Mark III and simply don’t need both guitars. It’s a super high quality guitar, and while they’re slowly rising in price, the Guild Mark I—IV classical guitars are still “sleepers.” The price belies its high quality. The Mark II has a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, a three piece mahogany neck, and a rosewood bridge, headplate, and fingerboard. The tuners are original, turn smoothly, and stay in tune.
The guitar is very well balanced and resonant. You can feel it vibrate in your body as you play. It’s currently strung with Hannabach strings, which bring out the guitar’s clarity and warmth.
This Mark II was built in Hoboken New Jersey, in Guild’s first factory (after moving from their Manhattan workshop). It’s in great shape, especially considering that it was built in 1966. There are no cracks in the body. It does, however, have some play wear on the soundboard, but that’s to be expected for a guitar of this age. The label is nice and clean, and the serial number is very easy to read on both the label and the heel block. I’ve taken great care of this guitar. It generally lives in its case, which I can include in the sale.
This is a really well-priced, quality classical guitar—a forever instrument. Let me know if you want to come by and try it out.
