Young at Art is a school for children ages 4 through adult encouraging artistic expression in a nurturing environment. Established in 1976, thousands of children and adults have found enjoyment and expression for their talents in multiple media. Enrollment is typically 5-600 students per month.
The Teacher is a professional position combining management, teaching. With creativity, vision and enthusiasm for passing along the joys of art to our client's young and old through sound teaching methods. Professionals with a love of teaching, from the creative aspects of advertising, marketing and public relations will be well qualified for the position.
Details of the Job
The Teacher needs to visualize the "big picture" of how Young at Art can provide the best service to its customers. He or She will actively teach, manage and promote the activities of the school, interacting with students, parents and teachers as well as other artists.
Specifics are-
• Oversight of the activities of aides teaching-
Oil Painting
Water colors
Mixed Media
• Helping leads to thoughtfully implement creative and exciting classes, helping with methods, skills and problems, substituting and assisting in classes when necessary, providing constructive criticism.
• Maintain a nurturing, disciplined work environment.
• Considerate and skillful interaction with students, parents and guardians to provide encouragement where needed.
• Developing community interest in the school by helping at shows and other promotional activities and by actively marketing the organization.
• Maintaining high teaching standards and consistency throughout all studio classes.
• Taking personal responsibility for teaching the classes, which will also require assisting students and parents with info for possible new students.
• Suggesting and assisting with establishing new types of classes.
• Being actively involved in and follow Company Policies and Procedures.
• Maintaining an active awareness of security including students, personnel, buildings and grounds.
• Encouraging the avoidance of waste and maintenance of environmental responsibilities.
• Leading by example.
Teachers must be able to successfully lead and collaborate with a team of artists and company management and admin staff, in addition to students and clients.

Qualitative Requirements
To be successful as a teacher, a candidate must exhibit exceptional creativity. They must also be an excellent communicator, as the primary goals are to assist the clients in defining and realizing their artistic goals. They also must possess strong problem-solving skills.
Other Responsibilities
In addition to overseeing work, the teacher will be expected to follow directions from the lead teacher, art director or manager.
The teacher may make presentations to clients and represent Young at Art.

Professional Experience
• Young at Art requires the teacher to have some previous experience working in a teaching environment and expects the art director submit a portfolio of their work.
Personal Qualities
• Young at Art wants to see energy and passion in the teacher who needs to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and must be detail-oriented. They also need strong communication, writing and time-management skills.
Education and Knowledge
The teacher should have or be working on a bachelor's degree in graphic design or an art related field. A solid understanding of color theory, composition principles, are essential.
