Asst. Backflow Technician- Job Description (Starting Rate: $24.00-$26.00, per hour)
Responsibilities: Perform work related tasks as assigned by manager or supervisor, such as but not limited to the following:
• Excavation to install backflow devices and security enclosures
• Assist with backflow repairs and testing
• Stock service vehicles with parts, clean cargo area of vehicle every day after use
• Must have clean driving record & provide DMV Drivers Record prior to start date. Job requires driving to and from job sites. Must comply with BAB driving standards and safety.
• Break down brass and wood pallets
• Stock parts, pipe, valves, etc. as needed
• Wash service vehicles when directed to do so
• Clean/sweep warehouse, stock refrigerator with water and drinks
• Empty trash
• Respond to emergency service calls, after hours or on weekends, in a timely manner
• Be at work on time, no excessive absences
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Backflow Technician - Full Time Position (Starting Rate: $30.00-$34.00, per hour)
Things that are a must:
• Must have had AWWA license for a minimum of 1-3 years
• Experience as technician for a plumbing, landscape, HVAC company or similar mechanical abilities; 3-5years min.
• Experienced and knowledgeable of power tools, basic hand tools and troubleshooting of basic mechanical tasks
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed for emergency services or an occasional Saturday
• Be able to always maintain a professional appearance. Length of hair and facial hair is to be short, clean, and well groomed,
tattoos if visible must be covered
• Work in a team environment with long-term co-workers and loyal customer base to promote professional relationships
• Highly reliable with excellent attendance and punctuality
• Willingness to learn new tasks and increase level of responsibility
• Be a detail-oriented team player and be able to work and adapt to the fast-paced environment
Performance Expectations: Perform basic physical tasks including, but not limited to:
• Test/certify, repair, and installation of backflow assemblies, above and below grade
• Plumbing work including soldering of copper, work with PVC pipe and fittings, ductile iron etc.
• Excavation for installation of backflows, security enclosures, etc.
• Maintain parts inventory in service vehicle and submit supply/parts request forms
• Work independently based on assigned schedule
• Comply with company safety policies and procedures
• Respond to emergency service calls in a timely manner
• Other duties as assigned
Additional Details for Both Positions:
Physical requirements:
• Repetitive twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting
• Heavy lifting of up to 75 pounds and scale ladders up to 8 ft. Any physical limitations must be disclosed at time of employment interview.
Additional requirements:
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken, bi-lingual in Spanish is highly desired
• Reliable transportation to and from work and a clean DMV record
Smoke & Vape Free Environment
Typical Schedule: 6:00am-2:30pm, frequent overtime
Service vehicles are Mercedes Sprinter Vans, you are required to be able to easily enter and exit the van cab and cargo area multiple times per day, based on schedule.
