I am growing a Florida Special Pineapple and earlier this year it gave me a couple of pups. They're now thriving in separate pots.
While they are well-suited to our climate here in Zone 9b, it's advised to bring them inside or keep them in a greenhouse during the peak of winter. This pineapple can handle temperatures as low as the mid-30s without any damage, however, our climate typically reaches mid-20s at winter's peak. That being said, I left one outside this year and haven't had any trouble so far.
Bred by the Libby Fruit Company for its juiciness and delicious flavor.
