For sale is a tall, thin, and shallow display cabinet or display case. It's used to showcase small curios, art items, and memorabilia. But you can use it to display or store almost anything that you can think of.
The display cabinet was purchased by my mother at a high-end furniture store in the early 1980s. It's more than 40 years old. My mother, who is now elderly, recently moved into my sister's place. Therefore, this is no longer being used.
At its maximum, the entire cabinet measures about 65" tall, 24" wide, and 12" deep. It weighs about 40 pounds. I cannot locate any branding information on the unit. This was likely handmade and not a branded item.
The cabinet is constructed of oak wood beams and panels, glass inserts, and mirror inserts. The oak wood is genuine and solid. This is not oak veneer over MDF. The oak wood beams and panels create the sturdy skeleton of the cabinet, including the top, bottom, and sides. At the bottom of the cabinet are four claw-feet support legs, also constructed of solid oak wood. The entire back panel of the cabinet is also constructed of a single, thin sheet of oak wood.
The main portions of the front and sides of cabinet are constructed of thick sheets of glass secured to the oak wood skeleton using hinged metal brackets. The top front and top sides are constructed of clear prism-glass inserted into small brass frames, similar to stained glass inserts.
Nearly the entire front of the cabinet is a large, hinged door that opens outward toward the right-side. There is a lock and included key that secures the door. The interior has a mirror panel in the back, so that you can view the back of your collectibles. At the top of the interior space is a small light that illuminates your collectibles. The light has a 10-foot cable that needs to be inserted into a wall outlet.
Upon opening the hinged glass and oak wood door, the interior space of the cabinet is accessible. The interior space measures about 55.5" tall, 20.5" wide, and 10" deep. The bottom shelf tier of the interior is oak. There are three included clear glass shelves that can inserted in this interior space. Each glass panel measures 20.375" wide, and 9.675" deep. These three glass panel shelves are adjustable in increments of 2 inches. You can also remove one or more of the glass shelves to create larger spaces between tiers.
The entire cabinet is in excellent structural and functional condition. All oak wood support beams are in robust structural condition, with no bending, warping, or fatigue. All structurally important glass and mirrored panels that form the cabinet walls are intact with no scratches or other concerns. The front door panel opens and closes with ease. The door hinges are in excellent shape and the lock and key work fine. The interior light works perfectly. The only negative is note is that one of the glass panels for the interior shelf tiers has a tiny chip in the corner. But once this glass piece is inserted into the cabinet, the chip is not very noticeable.
You can pick up from my house near the San Jose Airport. You'll probably need an SUV or truck. Or I would be happy to deliver it to you, if I happen to travel out in your direction.
I prefer that you reach out via text message. Sending an initial email message is OK. But arranging pickup solely using email is not a feasible option for me. Eventually, you'll have to text me to arrange a specific pickup or delivery time. Thanks.
