The price for a single file cabinet is $260. Or you can have both file cabinets for $500. These prices are firm and non-negotiable. Please don't ask for a discount or make an offer.
For sale is a genuine oak wood two-drawer short file cabinet. I actually have two (2) of these cabinets. They are perfectly identical in terms of brand, model, size, and construction. But one of them has a small cosmetic issue that is described below. The first cabinet is shown in Pictures 3 to 22. The top side of the second cabinet is shown in Pictures 23 and 24.
Both cabinets are intended to store legal-sized and / or letter-sized documents using standard hanging file folders. But they can also be used to store almost anything else.
The cabinets are from the Scandinavian mid-century-modern (MCM) genre of furniture, first made popular in the 1950s. Both cabinets were manufactured by the Encore Furniture Company. My parents purchased both new at the same time in the mid-1980s. Both cabinets are around 40 years old.
All exterior portions of each cabinet are made of genuine oak wood. Some interior portions, such as the internal drawer panels are made of less expensive MDF. Due to the large amount of genuine oak wood, the cabinet is very heavy, each weighing about 60 pounds. It's an extremely sturdy cabinet that will last another 40 years. This is not a cheap Ikea brand file cabinet.
Each cabinet measures exactly 20.25" wide, 25.375" deep, and 30.75" tall. Each is composed of two internal drawers that pull completely out on ball-bearing metal sliders. The sliding mechanism is relatively smooth.
The interior portion of each drawer sections measures exactly 15.375" wide, 21.5" deep, and 11.5" tall. There are two removable metal rods for each drawer that can be positioned to accept legal-sized or letter-sized hanging file folders. Or you can remove these rods to create a larger space for storage. While there is a locking mechanism for the upper drawer, my parents lost the key to this lock a long time ago.
Both cabinets are in excellent structural condition. All exterior and internal wooden support panels are robust, with no bending, warping, or fatigue. The cabinet is rock solid. Functionally, the drawers all pull out and push in with ease.
With one exception which was first mentioned above, both cabinets are also in excellent cosmetic condition. There are some extremely tiny scratches on some exterior wood surfaces from normal wear. But you'll only notice these cosmetic issues with direct bright light. All of these minor cosmetic issues don't significantly detract from the beauty of the strong oak wood grain.
Please note that one of the cabinets has some deterioration of the surface lacquer and loss of stain on the top panel. These cosmetic issues on the top panel are somewhat noticeable. Please see Pictures 23 and 24, which show the top panel of this second cabinet. But these surface cosmetic issues don't harm the structural integrity of the cabinet.
You can pick up from my house near the San Jose Airport. Or I would be happy to deliver it to you, if I happen to travel out in your direction.
I prefer that you reach out via text message. Sending an initial email message is OK. But arranging pickup solely using email is not a feasible option for me. Eventually, you'll have to text me to arrange a specific pickup or delivery time. Thanks.
