As difficult as this decision was, I have decided to sell my 1986 BMW 325e (E30).
This E30 was very well kept by the previous owners who were family members and kept detailed maintenance records dating back to 1992. During my ownership, I kept the same tradition by saving all service receipts as well.
This car has never once failed me. It always turns on and gets me to point A-Z.
legally pass smog, and never once failed smog (records available).
Pros:
- Historical maintenance receipts dating back to 1992
- Legally passes SMOG!!!
- All original, adult driven and never abused. (except for upgraded stereo, wired for subwoofer, and custom antenna switch)
Recent maintenance:
8/9/2024:
i. Driver Side Door: Grommet, locksmith, used lock cylinder, OEM glass window replaced
ii. Coolant flushed and and replaced with new
iii. Brake fluid flushed and replaced with new
iv. Transmission fluid/filter replaced with new
v. All belts replaced
vi. New Motor and Transmission mounts
vii. Valve cover gasket and spark plugs replaced with new
viii. Thermostat replaced with new
2025:
i. Front Brake Rotors and Pads replaced with new Brembo parts
ii. Rear Brake Rotors and Pads replaced with new Brembo rotors and Bosch pads
iii. x4 Brand New Hankook tires installed (70,000 mile warranty)
iv. Battery tests came back good (Purchased new in 2021)
v. All wheel alignment (12 month warranty which includes unlimited alignments during this period)
vi. Repair and calibrate VDO electronic speedometer (replaced gears, replaced capacitors, solder capacitor, calibrate to stock, re- calibrate the temperature gauge to factory specs, replace x2 light bulbs, correct odometer mileage set)
vii. Fully detailed by me as best as I could
Cons:
- Both front and passenger leather seats are torn
- Left rear passenger window does not roll down
- Turning on headlights makes the right side of the cars directional lights and rear brake night lights stop working (works once you turn off car and turn it back on)
- At some point the car's suspension will need work. Rear sustention squeaks during cold weather, but otherwise still works and goes away after is been driven for a while.
- Very little oil leak (I think its the oil pan, but not 100% sure)
- Dashboard has x2 cracked lines
- Front passenger speaker grill cover is gone (broke a few years ago)
- Front original license plate fell off a few years ago (original rear still there)
