This is a 1970 Mach-1 that started out as a Mustang Sportsroof. It’s not a number’s matching Mach-1. It's precisely what I wanted: a 1970 Mach 1 appearance with a more modern powertrain I wouldn't be afraid to wail on.
This thing was built as sort of a steetable drag car in flavor, and seemingly toned down at a later point. Let me reiterate. This thing is a monster. Burns rubber for days.
The thing that sold me on this car in particular was it's stance. I think it's just perfect.
Here's what it's got:
Windsor 351, not Cleveland
Beefy cam, far from stock
Holley 750 carburator, no choke
Aftermarket oil cooler
Has a line-lock for burnouts mounted in the engine compartment, but disconnected
Ford C6 3-speed Automatic. The C6 is a high-torque (typically truck) transmission Ford offered in the era. I think it has a shift-kit. It shifts really fast.
2700rpm stall converter
B&M cable shifter
17” Mag wheels
Lowered, excellent stance
Currie 9-inch rear end with 3.73 gears
Flowmaster mufflers (40 series I think)
"Cut-out" Headers. Probably by Hooker but not sure.
Factory Red w/ Black
New Interior, about 3 years old
honeycomb rear pattern
Replacement windshield with the blue sun tint (very expensive!)
Gauge cluster with high speed speedo. Apparently these were quite rare. I'd have to research that one.
Passenger side clock
Not in a huge rush to sell. I understand lowballing but I'm not urgently trying to sell, nor do I have a specific timeline.
Note: Odometer was disconnected long ago and isn't accurate.
