My experience in publishing stretches over decades, and ranges from writing and editing, through design and lay-out, to production and pre-press. As a result of my broad experience, I am able to handle a wide variety of tasks and projects with confidence and ability. Drawing on many years of experience with industry-leading software, I can take an assignment from raw manuscript or specifications to finished source files or PDF quickly and professionally. I possess a complete studio for remote work, including a Mac, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other graphic-design applications.
Design and Production Skills
After spending many years in the publishing industry, I have become a skilled graphic designer, production artist, art director, and typesetter. I have worked on books, magazines, newsletters, product packaging and labels, brochures, data sheets, CDs and DVDs (content and packaging), postcards, posters, business cards, and logos.
Software Skills
My primary experience is with Adobe Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat). My work in the publishing field has brought me into contact with many file formats and methods of converting them.
Communication Skills
My command of written and spoken English is excellent. My typesetting background has made me familiar with the specialized language of an extensive array of subjects, such as general scientific terminology and systems of measure.
