Dance contests were very popular back in the day. This trophy is a one of a kind find, extremely rare. Trophies from Hawaii from the late 19th century,and the beginning of the 20th century, are almost impossible to find.
*Lawrence "Chu" Baldwin (name engraved on trophy) presenter of the trophy from the Baldwin family was born in 1909 and died in 1946.
*His Father was Frank Baldwin born 1878 died in1960.
The brochure in the photos above is from the Baldwin House in Lahaina, Maui and shares some insight of the Baldwin Family.
*History
The Baldwin Family, Alexander and Henry P. Baldwin established a sugar-growing partnership on Maui that would diversify and grow to become one of Hawaii's business and community leaders. The legacy they forged in 1870 continues today through A&B's vision, mission and values.
*Due to the tragic fires in Lahaina Maui, a percentage from the sale of this artifact will go towards affordable housing, home ownership, and the rebuilding of Lahaina and surrounding areas affected by the Maui fires.
