"The 1999 Schwinn Homegrown recall was due to frame failures at the seat stay junction. Testing by the Bicycle Safety Institute (1999) found premature stress fractures under normal riding conditions. 12% of frames cracked within three years. Stop riding until inspected by an authorized Schwinn dealer."
