ITEM LOCATED IN SAN JOSE/SANTA CLARA. This is a large pendulum used in French Morbier clocks. Morbier clocks are also known as Comtoise clocks because of the Franche-Comté region where they were produced. It is made out of copper sheets. The repousse art depicts a woman (probably the mother) reaching down towards a stork holding a baby in its beaks. I think this is a reference to the European folklore which says stork is responsible for bringing babies to new parents. The sheet metal part itself is 35" high, 11.5" wide and 1" deep. It has an adjustable rod in the back. With the rod adjustment the length of the pendulum can vary from 36" to 46". It weights about 3 lb. This is an unusual item and can be used as a decoration as well. Asking $325 (OBO).
