ITEM LOCATED IN SAN JOSE. This painting seems to be after the Frescoes at Sigiriya in Sri Lanka. The true identity of the ladies in the frescoes still has not been confirmed. Some believe that they are the ladies of the king while others think that they are women taking part in religious observances. Yet another theory is that they depict celestial beings – either semi-divine nymphs known as apsaras, or a class of divine beings, i.e. goddesses. The frescoes have a close resemblance to paintings seen in the Ajanta Caves in India. The panel is 23.5"x16", respectively. Asking $125 (Or make offer).
