ITEM LOCATED IN SAN JOSE. This is an antique ceramic Makura (pillow in Japanese) with hand painted blue/white “flower and bamboo” decorations. It is from the late 19th/early 20th century. These antique Makura (pillows) were used during summer by the geisha to preserve their elaborate hair styles. This particular piece is 9" wide, 4.5" deep and 4.5" high.
