Use your imaginations!
They are empty, dry and clean inside.
I took them out of garage a week ago and after the rain they develop slight surface rust that can be easily be removed with vinegar or rust remover. Otherwise it is a completely solid steel.
Just paint it and use it.
Just for information:
Freon is harmless, not flammable gas, evaporates completely in seconds , leaving no any residue.
