Spinnaker Sailing is seeking a reliable, hands-on Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the care, maintenance, and readiness of our training/charter fleet. This is an ideal role for someone who loves boats, enjoys solving mechanical problems, and takes pride in keeping equipment safe and operating at a high standard.
Our fleet includes 28 keelboats from 25 - 45 feet and a runabout, which are used for instruction, charters and sailing activities on San Francisco Bay.
Position Overview
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring all vessels and related equipment are safe, clean, and fully operational for daily sailing activities. This role combines preventative maintenance, repair coordination, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on sailing school vessels
Maintain rigging, running rigging, hardware, and onboard systems
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues
Coordinate haul-outs, bottom cleaning, and major repairs with vendors
Maintain maintenance logs and service schedules
Manage spare parts inventory and ordering
Ensure fleet meets safety standards and readiness each day
Support instructors and operations staff with fleet-related needs
Assist with seasonal projects and fleet improvements
Qualifications
Experience maintaining sailboats or comparable marine systems
Strong mechanical aptitude (rigging, engines, electrical systems a plus)
Ability to diagnose problems and work independently
Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
Comfortable working outdoors and on the water
Ability to lift 50 lbs and move safely on docks and boats
Sailing experience preferred but not required
