Scroll compressors are unique in that they do not use "pistons" to compress air, so they operate virtually silently. Further, because of the scroll pump design, these are "Oilless" compressors, so the output is "clean" air which can be used in scientific or food applications. A simple particulate filter and moisture trap will provide "perfect" compressed air.
The unit itself has many hours of operation, but the new pump virtually none. The unit was reconditioned in 2018, and has been primarily in storage since soon after the refurb. Unit is CLEAN and operates virtually silently.
This is an ideal compressor for a shop where compressed air is required, but the noise of a piston pump would be unacceptable. Couple this compressor with an external tank and you have a small-to-medium shop air source.
The unit is also ideal for use in applications requiring "clean" air such as food-service or health-care. (This style/model is often used in dental offices, for instance).
