Rabbi Moshe Heyn and Death Doula Gabrielle Jimenez in conversation about the Final Exit.
Hospice care focuses on the care, comfort, and quality of life of a person with a serious illness that is approaching the end of life. It often includes emotional and spiritual support for both the patient and their loved ones. However, many people are burdened by misconceptions and confusion about hospice care. Moderator David Gorn will engage the audience in a three-way conversation with Rabbi Moshe Heyn and Death Doula Gabrielle Jimenez.
Moshe Tom Heyn is a rabbi, musician, chaplain, spiritual activist, surfer and paraglider who practices and teaches a synthesis of humanism and mysticism. With 20-years' experience as a Hospice Chaplain, he currently serves as the Spiritual Leader of the Coastside Jewish Community (CJC). Rabbi Moshe also serves as our Chaplain for Half Moon Bay's Ocean View Lodge. He will share his experience and expertise in the field, along with a few stories and a bit of humor. rabbimoshetom.com
Gabrielle Jimenez, known to many as Gabby, is a hospice and palliative care nurse, end-of-life doula, death, dying, and grief educator, and published author. Her work is rooted in a deep commitment to improving the way people are cared for, both at the end of life and in the tender seasons of grief that follow. Gabby currently works as a pediatric palliative care nurse. Beyond her clinical work, she walks alongside families as a hospice liaison, supporting them from the earliest signs of decline or diagnosis through the final breaths and into grief. She is known for her steady presence at the bedside and her belief that this sacred work must always be met with kindness, honesty, and compassion. thehospiceheart.net
