This generator was original equipment in our 2006 Roadtrek class B RV. It is being replaced with lithium batteries and solar as part of a major upgrade. It still starts and runs well in cool weather, but runs only for a short period of time in warm weather. It currently has 191 hours of operation, and is being sold as is. Price $300 O.B.O, AS-IS.
DETAILS:
In 2022, the generator began not starting and shutting off during hot weather. It was tested by CD&Power, an authorized Onan service facility in Martinez, but no problem was found. From their report:
HRS 185.2: GOT THE VAN UP ON THE RACK. GENERATOR STARTED AND RAN WITH NO ISSUES. TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONER ON AND LET UNIT RUN FOR APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES. UNIT STILL HAD NO ISSUES. WILL WAIT FOR CUSTOMER APPROVAL BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER. ... PERFORMED HOT & COLD COMPRESSION TEST. THE COMPRESSION READINGS WERE GOOD FOR BOTH. ENGINE DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE COMPRESSION ISSUES.
The buyer must acknowledge that this is an existing and known problem, and that the unit is being sold as is. Sale price includes the Roadtrek-specific subframe, the manuals shown in the photograph, extra air filters and a spare spark plug. A new Onan/Cummin replacement costs $4500 or more, not including installation (search "Onan 2.5KVFA26120L" on Google), so the $40 asking price represents a good value for someone with the skills and patience to repair it. Google AI offers advice and suggestions (search "2.5kvfa26120l warm weather start problem").
PICKUP:
Pick up will be from a commercial business location in the Pleasanton area. Unit will become available for pick up after it is removed from our van sometime December 1-19. Buyer agrees to pick up the unit during normal business hours within three days of notification. Buyer must pick up and load the generator from the ground by themselves; no assistance will be provided.
