Puppy Play School: 6:00-7:00pm
For puppies after 1st set of shots to 6 months of age. This period is an important time to begin socializing your puppy, as well as a good time to begin training. Learn how to communicate with your dog and to begin to teach your dog to sit, walk on a leash, come when called, lie down, not jump on people, interact with other dogs and
to take food gently from your hand – PLUS much more! This is a fun class that helps build a puppy’s confidence, teaches good manners, and answers your puppy-raising questions about house-training, chewing, nipping, etc.
First class meeting - on 4/8/19 -was for Owners - people only!
Beginner Skills: 7:15-8:15pm For dogs over six months of age, this class teaches all of the basic training cues including sit, loose leash walking, come, sit-stay, down-stay as well as teaching you to more effectively communicate with your dog. It also teaches the dog how to socialize with people and other dogs, as well as problem behaviors, such as jumping on people and grabbing food from your hand. This class is taught on-leash to help you gain control. It is a great way to brush up on an older dog’s obedience.
Meet our Trainer: Bari Halperin
Bari began her profession in dog training by observing and apprenticing with Ian Dunbar & Molly Clement (of Sirius) and Daryl Davey in the 1980’s. She started Dog Days (Training, Exercising & Socializing) in 1995 along with dog training classes in Atherton and at Woodland School in Portola Valley and private lessons throughout the Peninsula. Bari has brown Newfoundland dogs. She trains, shows, and titles her dogs (35 titles to date) in Conformation, Obedience, Rally, Canine Good Citizen, Urban Canine, Water Rescue, Drafting (Carting), and Therapy Dog Certification. Bari’s Newfoundland dogs have modeled & appeared in plays, books, magazines & calendars. Her philosophy of dog training comes from an understanding of “how dogs think” and from observation and recognition of dog behavior, with an emphasis on communication and mutual respect. Bari is a member of the Newfoundland Club of America (she is the Newf Ambassador for this region) and the Newfoundland Club of Northern California.
