For sale is a beautiful and hardly used one-piece maple Tele neck. I purchased this from Warmoth in December 2011 for a "partscaster" project that I never finished. (Also for sale in my other listings are other parts from this project, etc., discounts available for purchasing multiple items!)
I never got an invoice for this neck (funny story about that--this was a replacement neck for the original one I ordered but which was accidentally sold by Warmoth to someone else), but I'm pretty sure all these specs are accurate. (To get these specifications I'm referencing both my email correspondence with Warmoth when I bought this neck, and I just filled out a custom order form on Warmoth's website with all the options I recall I used--it seems all the options I used are still standard for Warmoth custom necks today.)
"Vintage Modern" Tele, classic headstock shape
Standard 4-bolt base (fits modern Fender Telecaster bodies)
Standard 25.5 inch scale length
1-11/16 inch nut width ("modern medium ")
Boat neck profile
Vintage small stainless steel frets (SS6230) with almost no wear; 22 frets
Abalone shell dot inlays on the fretboard. I couldn't do them justice in the photos; they look beautiful. Black dot fret markings on the side.
Clear satin nitro finish.
And the non-Warmoth "extras" beyond the above noted specs...
Gotoh non-locking tuners. Chrome. Very slight aging on them, but working like new. I bought this set new and installed them into the Warmoth pre-drilled holes. They are official Gotoh brand tuners--not clones or knock-offs.
Earvana compensated nut, NOT glued in. I might have slightly messed up the sanding on the bottom of this nut, but I'll include it in the sale of this neck anyway.
One string tree installed BUT PLEASE READ FURTHER..!
The only real imperfection of this neck is here. In order to install this string tree, I had to pre-drill a hole for it. That went fine. But then the screw I used broke off in the hole! Fortunately, it broke just below wood level, but unfortunately I couldn't get it out. So I just drilled a second hole a few millimeters away using the same drill bit and the same size screw and THAT worked just fine. So the string tree you see sits just next to the broken screw stuck in there, about half covered by a plastic spacer I have under the string tree. Still visible is the pencil mark where I drilled that first failed hole and the broken off screw. I tried to capture this in photos but it's really hard to see. While not ideal to have a broken screw stuck there forever, I'm confident it didn't affect the structural integrity of the currently installed string tree.
Some final thoughts...
This neck is in nearly "new" condition, but for the string tree broken screw issue and some shallow scuffing on the satin finish from handling it over the years.
The COLOR of this neck is truest in the close-up photos. The bathroom floor ambiance made the full view photos look like the neck is a vintage yellow tint for some reason.
This was the first Warmoth neck I'd ever purchased and I was blown away with how high quality it felt and how beautiful it is! I just don't play guitar much anymore and the partscaster project has been back-burnered for ages now, so it's a waste to have this neck sitting in my closet.
I'm attaching screenshots of the Warmoth Tele neck order form I filled out a few days ago with all of the specifications and options I recall using for the neck of this listing. (These screenshots are NOT the original order form for this neck, but just for your reference of what to expect.)
Price is firm because I think it's fair. The quote for a NEW Warmoth neck with specifications almost identical to this one is $327, and that's not including the Gotoh tuners, (maybe wonky) Earvana nut, string tree, and sales tax.
A guitar neck is a very personal thing for a guitar player, so I tried to write as much description as possible here. But of course I expect you'll want to hold it in your hands, feel the frets, turn the tuners, and see how it looks in real life before committing to buying it.
Please let me know if you've any further questions!
Also please check out my other Craigslist listings for other guitar-related things I'm selling. I will offer discounts for buying multiple items from anything I'm selling now.
