This speaker is normally rated at 175 watts RMS, which is already amazing for an 8-inch speaker. But this SX80 has been upgraded with a Eminence Beta 8 woofer, also highly regarded by professionals and rated at 225 watts RMS. The best way to understand a Eminence Beta 8 woofer is to think of it as being a 12 inch, 225-watt woofer that has been made with an 8 inch cone. (See photo of the Beta 8 woofer in the photos)
