ART TubeMP Microphone Preamp: HUGE amount of gain in this unit (from +6 to +40db, with an additional +20db selectable boost for 26-60db operation). With an output fader as well, there is a TON of optionality for driving the tube circuit to saturation and distortion, but bringing the output level back down to a reasonable level so as not to overload / clip your converters. The unit also has 48v phantom power and phase reverse switches, as well as XLR and TRS inputs and outputs. Desktop operation, comes with original power supply.

This was the first external preamp I ever bought and has been used on a ton of recordings over the years.
