Seeking Fashion Design Assistant for Italian Fashion House
Evaro Italia (www.evaro.it) is seeking a proactive and capable part-time assistant fashion designer to assist in all aspects of operating an independent design house: production, sourcing, sample making, fittings, preparation and operations for fashion shows, galas and pop-up events, etc.
Launched in Italy in 2016. Evaro Italia is an elegant and contemporary women’s evening wear clothing line founded by Eva Rorandelli. Eva’s studio/showroom is located in Redwood City, California, and our fabrics and materials are imported from Florence, Italy.
This will be a part-time contractor position with a three-month commitment preferred to begin, and we are looking to fill the position by January 2020. Before applying, please read the detailed job description below.
Pay is based on proficiency and experience. This position requires weekly or bi-weekly design sessions in the Redwood City studio with the designer, and flexible work for events and clients fittings in the Bay Area.
Technical drawings and development assistance during the early stages of each new collection.
Prototype development and assistance, including pattern and sample making.
Coordinating and assisting with fittings and photoshoots.
Fabric sourcing, fabric shows and online purchases.
Inventory management and organization of fabrics, patterns, and other materials in-studio.
Hand sewing, beading and creating accessories for couture garments. Repairs, final touches and alterations.
Meeting with clients in the Bay Area for fittings for private and public events.
Assistance during a range of events including pop-ups, galas, fundraising events and fashion shows in the San Francisco Bay Area and occasionally in other US cities.
Regular meetings with the designer in the studio and other local teams to coordinate production, create marketing assets, and assist operations.
College degree in Fashion Design.
Solid fashion design and production experience: patterning, cutting, sewing, sourcing, alterations, tech packs, etc.
Proficient with Adobe creative suite.
Prior internship or applied work experience in apparel fashion design is highly desired.
Must drive a car and be available to drive for work to assist production, visit clients, and coordinate events. Our studio is in Redwood City, we work with vendors in San Jose, and most of our clients are on the peninsula or in San Francisco.
Detail oriented, motivated individual with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and re-prioritize work on the fly.
Professional demeanor and presentation for public events. Bonus points for experience with sales and outgoing personality to interact with clients and during public functions.
Strong work ethic and initiative. Punctual and able to work with tight deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Sense of humor and love of chihuahuas (Pixie and Coco, our chihuahuas, will be helping out with the design process as well)!
