This 1970 Triumph Bonneville T120R underwent a total refurbishment that was completed in 2004 by Arland Dower of Vancouver, WA and DJ’s Cycle Shoppe (engine & transmission rebuild) of Portland, OR. Acquired by the seller in 12/10/2004 and regularly maintained by Ken Armann of Campbell, CA since then. Maintenance and repair records are available.
The bike is finished in Astral Red and Silver and is powered by a 649cc parallel-twin mated to a four-speed transmission. Features include a two-up seat, twin leading-shoe drum brakes, wire-spoke wheels, painted fenders, center and side stands, Amal carburetors, a dual exhaust, and a steel fuel tank. This Bonneville is now offered with records and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The fuel tank and fenders were refinished in Astral Red and Silver with gold pinstriping and paired with side panels refinished in black. The fuel tank has a blemish near the cap (see picture). The frame was powder-coated black, and additional features include a black vinyl-upholstered two-up seat, a rear grab bar, eyebrow Triumph badges, black rubber knee grips, twin Clear Hooter horns (detached), and center and side stands. The hardware was cadmium plated or polished, the steel fuel tank was repaired, and the headlight, taillight lens, one fender, chain guard, and side reflectors were replaced in the refurbishment.
Suspension consists of a conventional telescopic fork with black rubber gaiters as well as dual shocks mounted to the swingarm. Braking is from drums at both ends, the front of which features a twin leading-shoe design.
A chrome handlebar fronts instrumentation consisting of a 150-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and an ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 2,698 miles.
The 649cc OHV parallel-twin was overhauled in the refurbishment and was factory rated at 52 horsepower. Equipment includes twin Amal carburetors and a kick starter as well as replacement ignition coils.
The number AD38695T120R stamped on the engine case matches the number stamped on the frame.
