Owner for the last 28 years – a nice car that has spent most of its life in California, No rust. Car gets lots of ‘thumbs up’ when on the road.
‘88 and ‘89 635CSi were not offered in the US with a 5 speed, but the chassis was set up to accommodate one. About 20 years ago I had a 535 5 speed transplanted into the car. The transmission has performed flawlessly since it was installed, and while not a M6, a lovely 635CSi to drive.
The car has new plug wires, new plugs, new air intake boots, new air filter, new valve cover gasket, and fresh antifreeze. I keep the car on a on a battery tender when not in use.
Includes Robert Bentley, Bosch Fuel Injection & Engine Management, and Haynes repair manuals, repair and part receipts for most all of the car’s lifetime, owners manual, Peake fault code reader / reset tool and manual, and a spare on board computer.
I am happy to discuss the positives and issues with the car in depth, so you know exactly what you are getting. The car is impressively solid for a vehicle of this age and mileage. Looking to find a good home with an enthusiast for the car I have enjoyed immensely for 3 decades.
Work to be done -
- SRS light is on (recent). Could be wiring, connectors above the glove box, or the 36 year old air bag. Some opt to put in an elegant era BMW steering wheel without airbag
- heated seats intermittent / no op – I have not tried to diagnose
- odometer gears need to be replaced – known issue for the 635
- AC not operational, would need modern compressor. Stock compressor is a huge, noticeable load on the engine
- Paint would benefit from a polish / rub out and wax
