Anyone watching the latest streaming releases on Michael Jackson's life. I wanted to see Leaving Neverland but it is temporarily banned in the U.S. due to a lawsuit but will likely be available again in a couple years. We just finished the current limited release series that documents a lot of information leading up to his arrest and trial. There is also the new movie release call Michael, which I am looking forward to seeing. At any rate, all of this stuff in the movie also touches on the full Jackson Family, of which Marlon Jackson was one of the closest in age siblings to Michael so it is kind of cool.
This book was retrieved by ME in 1972 when the Walton School, in Panorama City, CA. closed and was abandoned. See attached photos of the book along with a screenshot from the yearbook showing the Jackson Family as having attended this school. This is quite a collectible for many reasons.
In 1972, the Jackson 5 were quite famous and the Walton School is where many of the Jackson 5 brothers attended, including Marlon, Michael, Tito and Germaine. Marlon is about 1.5 years older than Michael, and this was his Biology Book when he attended this school. He wrote his name along the edge of it in big black marker on all 3 sides AND, very importantly, I found a page in the book (see photos) where he was practicing his SIGNATURE!
How did I get this book? A great story of provenance for collectors: I was in a play that year and, even though the Walton School had just closed its doors before the summer of 1972, they allowed one of the students from L.A. Valley Community College (down the street in Van Nuys) to use their stage for a play called the Red Peppers (a fun burlesque with lots of student actors, some from Walton School and most from LA Valley Commun. College). Michael even attended one of the productions in support of a few of his fellow students with whom he was friends. I was in the play so it was pretty wonderful when Michael showed up in the audience. What a fun night.
If you would like to see this book, let me know. It is one of a kind. While you can find valuable yearbooks online, which are very cool, this book was the personal Biology Book of Marlon's, so it is specific to him and no one else has one. Again, it also has his signature in it!
