Belt buckle from the early 1970s by Lewis Buckles of Chicago shows Buster Brown and his dog Tige as featured in the New York Herald newspaper. The New York Herald, which existed between 1835 and 1924, was known for entertaining the public with daily news and was the leading circulation paper of the time. The comic strip characters of Buster Brown and Tige and their shenanigans became well-known to the American public in the early 1900s and were subsequently used in advertising campaigns. Ad campaigns with Buster Brown and Tige were briefly revived in the 1970s when this belt buckle was made. The belt buckle measures about 2.25" by 3.25" and is in good condition overall with some changes in color by the letter E. Lots of fun to display or use.
