We purchased the rug at auction in 1998 and never used it. It has been stored rolled up in a smoke-free home out of the light and is therefore in pristine condition. Rug consignment stores wanted to list it in their inventory at $9,000 and give us a fraction of that amount when sold. We are therefore trying to sell it now through Craigslist at the price we paid to a great household that is in need of a rug of its size and impressive features. When appraised, we were told this was a Persian rug specifically a Mashhad rug but unfortunately we do not have any paperwork documenting that nor do we have an exact production date.
