Ibis Exie with a custom XT build in mint condition. Original owner, bought in 2025, low miles and still looks new, never crashed, dropped or scratched. The photos show the build spec, geometry, serial number and sizing information.
This is a fast, well balanced XC bike that was ridden to a silver medal in the last Olympics. It’s a top pick of Ibis employees for the redwood forest trails in Santa Cruz. After riding three flex-stay bikes (Specialized Epic 8, Santa Cruz Blur TR and Cervelo ZFS-5 120), I bought the Exie for its relaxed fit, the ride feel and uphill traction of its DW suspension, and the downhill stability of its longer wheelbase. Online reviews say “super fun XC race bike, best climbing bike ever ridden, lively, fast acceleration, smooth on small bumps, high traction, forgiving, nimble, excellent cornering and downhill stability, good fit for tall riders, a rocket ship" (BikersEdge), “active, supple suspension, stable and predictable, planted ride feel” (FeedTheHabit) and “some sort of magic going on with the DW link suspension... a lot of riders are going to fall in love with this bike” (PinkBike).
The bike weighs 28 lbs in this XL build with 32 spoke alloy wheels and pedals. The flex-stay bikes I demo'ed weighed 27.5 lbs (ZFS-5 120) to 29 lbs (Epic 8) in size XL with alloy OE wheels and pedals. In comparison, my hardtail weighs 22 lbs. The Exie and hardtail are equally fast climbing groomed trails. The Exie climbs faster on technical trails (more traction) and is always faster downhill (more stable, better control).
Regarding sizing and fit, I’m 6’3” with a 34” inseam. The fit feels longer than the other bikes I demo'ed, but less so than I expected from the long reach spec, just more relaxed and comfortable. With the setup shown in the photos, the bar-seat distance (handlebar center to front of seat) is 22¾” with the dropper fully extended. Personally I rely on this fit measurement more than reach, because reach is a frame spec that doesn’t always predict how a bike fits with your overall setup. For example, the reach on the Exie is longer than my hardtail (519 vs 484mm), but the fit feels the same on both and they have the same bar-seat measurement.
