Primative Antique Chinese Elmwood Rice Basket. From Shanxi province in approximately 1910. Rice measures were made in various sizes, this one qualifying as large. To appreciate basic craftsmanship, carefully examine figner joinery. Iron brackets reinforce, and others would have been added later for repair. No two are alike.
Today these are useful as decorative pieces, or utilitarian for holding guest towels in a bathroom, magazines in a study, rolled placemats in the kitchen, etc.
Measures 13.5 w x 12.5 l x 9.25 tall.
