Oil painting on canvas by Mexican painter Leonardo M. Nierman also known as Leonardo Nierman Mendelejis. Its title is unknown but the scene is astill life of a burning candle in a candle holder, cigarettes and matches and a German modernist vase on a table. In the top left corner is the signature Nierman with the date 58 next to it to represent 1958.
I obtained it framed so I don’t know what’s on the backside or if there is anything else around the edges or periphery of the painting. This piece was created in 1958 so this is one of his earlier creations. The painting was stylistically inspired by Bernard Buffet and on the backside of the frame is a stamp from the sale at a Mexican gallery.
The actual piece measures around
19” x 15” x 1
And the framed piece measures
29” x 25” x 1
The frame is a gold colored trim and the back is wood and the front that surrounds the piece is a thick & rough type of canvas material.
This type of piece is even more in demand since the artist recently passed in 2023.
The photos are a very accurate representation of the condition of the painting.
I have already prepackaged the painting so it is ready for shipping. It is wrapped judiciously in bubble wrap and many layers of cardboard to ensure it’s quality in transit.
