I am a copy editor, proofreader and a writer, and have edited many different kinds of projects and lots of books. I especially love working with authors on their manuscripts, helping to make them as error-free and consistent as possible.
My work includes correcting spelling and grammatical mistakes, typos, inconsistencies, fact-checking, formatting and more.
Contact me if you would like to discuss a project.
Below are testimonials from a few authors I have worked with.
Rick Deragon, author of “Altar of Extremes”
Lily O’Brien approached the project of editing my 85,450-word novel with alacrity. She understood that I had employed some quirky punctuation and stylistic elements, some French proper names of places and people, as well as short conversational passages of French, Spanish, and Catalan. Undaunted, she proceeded to edit the book with sympathy and insight, holding up high her standards of grammar, punctuation, and style.
Lily produced a manuscript that was clear, fluid, and replete with idiosyncratic touches so that the essence of my work had been, not just saved, but honed to a high level. Her changes strengthened the manuscript in positive ways.
Lily was in regular contact in order to reassure that she “was on it,” but also to get clarification when necessary. I always felt as if the project was in capable hands. The editing project came in on time, allowing me to proceed to the next level.
I would have Lily professionally edit any and all of my writing without hesitation. It was a pleasant experience. No caveats coming from this writer.
Brad Graber, author of “The Intersect”
Lily did an amazing job with my line editing. She kept me informed of the process - explained clearly how she worked - and met my deadline. In every way she exceeded my expectations. And when I reviewed the work she'd done - I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that my 460-page novel was thoroughly vetted. I consider myself lucky to have worked with such a talented proofreader.
Randall Robert Rios, author of Tripping the Light Fantastic
I found Lily on Craig's list and chose her out of several others offering proofreading and editing. I'm extremely happy I chose her. My manuscript was a mess, full of typos, sloppy punctuation and poor sentence structure. Lily cleaned it up and made it much more readable and professional. Her cost was more than reasonable and done in a very timely manner. I would highly recommend her services—she really has a genuine concern for her work. I wouldn't even consider anyone else on my next project.
