I am offering my 1952 Riley drophead coupe for sale to anyone who will commit to restoring it. This is a relatively rare car. It was owned by a man who died. He never got it completed. I bought it about one year ago from his son. I can no longer store it in my garage. The owner disassembled it and began a down to the frame rebuild that never got “put back together again”.
The Riley drophead cabriolet were made by Riley Motors from 1945 until 1955. They were the last models developed independently by Riley before its parent company, Nuffield, merged with Austin to form BMC. The RM series was produced in Coventry until 1949, when production moved to the MG works at Abingdon. This car is a Riley RMD (drophead) which is a traditional 2-door cabriolet convertible with suicide doors, and was the last Riley cabriolet. It uses a 2.5 L 100 hp straight six with a manual transmission. Just over 500 were produced between 1949 and 1952.
This car is largely disassembled but all parts are there. It has a numbers not matching original Riely engine that does turn over. It was sold as a rebuilt engine but needs some work. Also has the original transmission and a new top. Seats were reupholstered with leather at some point and are in good condition.
I got the title for the car and I have the original shop manual for the car.
The last picture is of the car before he began the rebuild, some are of the car in its current condition, and some are of what it would look like if restored to original condition.
