Guides weary and confused travelers to safe passage, then vanishes
One night my friend and I
Tired and but determined to be sleepless
Drove up a windy road
Until we could no longer continue further
We pulled off to the side of shadows
And dirt
And we laughed together
About how our hearts were racing
And how trepidation stills our hands and feet
We talked about her
And who she once was
Or is
To solidify the reality of legend
To acknowledge the
Strangeness of
Fear and joy and their love for each other
The moon was full
Of course
Like it usually is on nights like these
And together we ventured out
One barefoot
One cold
Both afraid of the dark
(I remember my confession
And I remember theirs)
And on that walk
That I had once dreamed
We never arrived to our destination
Because we were already exactly
Where we were supposed to be
