Mallory billet distributor for Ford 351W engines with TFI ignition which was on mostly Broncos, vans and trucks between 1986 and 1996. This is NOT for use on standard 351W engines running standard electronic ignitions, or a replacement distributor for points. This is a very specific ‘TFI” system distributor that will only work with vehicles between those years with the factory equipped TFI system. Here is a description on what that is:
Ford TFI, “Thick Film Ignition” is an electronic ignition control module used in many Ford vehicles from the mid 1980s to the mid-1990s or so, particularly in EFI engines with distributors. The TFI module directly controls the engine's ignition coil, managing spark timing and generation. There were two different TFI systems - the Push Start (gray module) and the Computer Controlled Dwell (black module) type. This particular unit has the black module.
