Premier Instrument Kardon Civilian Model With Kodak 47mm F/2 Lens
Prior to WWII the US military got it's 35mm cameras from Leica. During the war they became (obviously) unavailable. As a result, the American Premier Instrument Corporation in N.Y. was commissioned to produce a copy of the Leica IIIa. The camera was a technical success; easier to produce and of extremely high quality.
The lens chosen was a razor-sharp Kodak 47mm f/2 Ektar. This is an amazing lens with beautiful bokeh (I own one myself and use it on a Sony A7RIII- the final photo of the dog was shot wide open).
After the war the camera was discontinued, but not before some civilian models were produced. This is one of these.
Camera in great condition and was tested and CLA'd by Bay Area Camera Repair 4/23/19.
