1921 Gibson A Model mandolin
with original case
serial number #65413
I’ve owned this classic mandolin for the last 3 years. I’m a big fan of vintage instruments and their sounds. I’ve taken great care of it. At this time I have one mandolin too many. So I must send it along on it’s way to bring joyful musical moments to a new owner.
This blacktop mandolin has been lovingly restored to a modern playability. Overall hardware, pickguard, finish looking great. Instrument work was carried out at San Francisco GuitarWorks shop.
The fretboard was smoothed, and a slight 12” radius added for better playability. New stainless steel frets have been added. A Cumberland adjustable bridge was fitted, replacing the original stock one piece bridge (also included).
There’s a light bit of wear to be expected with a 100+ year old instrument. All seams are good. There are no separations or evidence of repair in it’s history. Tuning machines work just fine. Comes with its original (Geib & Schaeffer) case with green lining, a bit of vintage history in itself.
With these upgrades, the instrument rings out true and with the adjustable bridge, action height can be set just right. It is sure a fun player, with the classic 1920’s Gibson Teens woody mandolin sound.
